The "Tianyang Cup" 7th Petrochemical Corrosion and Protection Technology Seminar ended successfully in Shanghai

From April 9th to 11th, 2025, the 7th Petrochemical Corrosion and Protection Technology Seminar and the Exhibition of Oil Well, Pipe Materials, Refining and Chemical, Offshore Engineering and Hydrogen Energy Anti-corrosion Products, sponsored by Tianyang Cup, was successfully held in Shanghai. This conference is hosted by the Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Professional Committee of the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Engineering Research Society, organized by Shanghai Tianyang Times Technology Co., LTD., and has received strong support from the Shanghai Small and Medium-sized Enterprises International Cooperation Association and the Shanghai Office of the South-South Cooperation Promotion Association of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. More than 200 experts, leaders and representatives from central and state-owned enterprises, listed companies, special equipment inspection companies, private enterprises, colleges and universities, research institutes, industry associations and foreign-funded companies, including China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, National Pipeline Network Corporation, National Energy Group Corporation, China National Chemical Corporation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Petrochemical Refining and Chemical Industry, Nuclear Power, etc., gathered at the Tianyang Yunfei Technology Lecture Hall and attended the entire event on-site. Jointly explore the cutting-edge technologies and development trends in the industry. On that day, nearly 400 people participated in the event online from around the world, and the peak number of people attending the live video broadcast reached over 8,000.

  

This conference coincides with the dramatic changes in the global situation of customs stations. As an annual event with international influence in the petrochemical field, domestic experts attending the conference explored from multiple perspectives how to break through the predicament and seek new opportunities through technological innovation. At the opening ceremony, Director Hong Yongqing of the Shanghai Office of the South-South Cooperation Promotion Association of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China emphasized in his speech that Chinese technology enterprises are not only pioneers of technological innovation but also a calling card for China to go global. Wang Zhenzhong, the general manager of "Shanghai Tianyang Times Technology Co., LTD.", a 25-year-old national-level specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative small and medium-sized enterprise, said, "The world is facing a major transformation unseen in a century, but crises also present opportunities within them." The entire conference was rich in content and well-structured, presenting over 20 high-quality reports that directly addressed the pain points of the industry, focusing on topics such as technological innovation in corrosion protection.

    

Zhu Xingshan, a specially-appointed researcher at the Institute of Energy of Peking University, delivered the opening speech on "The Integrated Development of the Oil and Gas Industry and New Energy". Xu Qing, the vice president of Honghu New Materials Research Institute, presented "Exploration of Recycling Technology and Industrialization of Waste Steel Pipes in Oil and Gas Fields", elaborating in a simple and understandable way on how to use new material composite technology to green empower old steel pipes and turn waste into treasure, which won continuous applause from the audience.

   

Chu Yuyang, the general manager of the Composite Pipe Division of Shanghai Tianyang Steel Pipe Co., LTD., delivered a wonderful presentation titled "Breakthroughs in Composite Material Technology in the Coal Chemical, Petrochemical and New Energy Industries", elaborating on how a Chinese private enterprise spent a full 12 years and conducted 372 experiments to develop a new type of bimetallic metallurgical composite pipe material. It has laid a solid foundation for anti-corrosion, significant cost reduction and efficiency improvement, as well as transformation and upgrading in the oil extraction, refining and chemical industries. It has won the First prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of the China Corrosion and Protection Association and the CIFF New Materials Award at the China International Industry Fair, fulfilling the lifelong dream of 88-year-old academician Li Helin of the petroleum industry


Among them, the hydrogen energy issue has drawn high attention, and many experts have directly addressed the core challenges in hydrogen storage and transportation through in-depth analysis. Professor Bai Yong from Ningbo Opia Marine Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. and Senior Engineer Jia Qiyue from Beijing Branch of China Global Engineering Co., Ltd. respectively delivered wonderful reports on "Research on the Development and Utilization Technology of Hydrogen Energy Pipelines" and "Material Selection for Hydrogen Energy Transportation Pipelines". In the report titled "Core Innovation and Application of New Materials Technology in the Transportation and Storage Links of the Hydrogen Energy Industry Chain" presented by Bao Yi, a technical expert who returned from overseas from Shanghai Yiyuan Energy Technology Co., LTD., he not only specifically analyzed from the principle how his globally pioneering high-pressure hydrogen barrier anti-hydrogen embrittlement new material has solved the hydrogen embrittlement problem in the hydrogen energy storage and transportation links at one go, It also used various data to explain how this technology has achieved a reduction of 50% to 70% in the cost of hydrogen storage and transportation materials, and presented a series of cases such as the market application of this technology in China National Petroleum Corporation, which strongly resonated with the experts present.

     

In addition to the captivating and high-level knowledge feast, the conference site also set up a new materials technology exhibition area, where participants could experience and feel hundreds of the latest cutting-edge scientific research achievements up close through "observation, auscultation and olfaction, inquiry and palpation". Among them, more than 20 new material products independently developed by Tianyang, including four globally pioneering technologies such as "high-sulfur coal 630℃ ultra-supercritical unit hot-dip nickel-coated boiler tubes and high-throughput metallurgical composite tubes", were crowded with people at the exhibition stand and received continuous praise.
The 7th "Tianyang Cup" Petrochemical Corrosion and Protection Technology Seminar provided a platform for in-depth communication, resource sharing and common development for all domestic and foreign participants. As many participants have pointed out, the conference has truly brought together the scientific research and innovation forces of the industry, promoting the development of new quality productivity throughout the entire industrial chain for the industrialization of the dual carbon and recycling economy through science and technology.
